It all started in 1995 when I visited Radio Mount Vernon one Sunday afternoon, intrigued to find out what it was all about. I'd always wanted to become involved in hospital radio and from then on I wanted to be part of Radio Mount Vernon. At first I was a volunteer on Sunday afternoons, collecting requests from patients in Harlequin (now Trinity) ward.
Then I gradually became involved in presenting, and in 1997 took over the Hit Mix, which included requests from the children's ward.
Mount Vernon Hospital changed after the turn of the 21st century, and so did Radio Mount Vernon. I moved to the Thursday night Request Show where I have been collecting requests from Trinity and Edmonds wards and presenting those requests ever since.
As a member of Radio Mount Vernon, I have seen many changes over the years, but one aspect which has stayed the same is the service we provide to you the patients, hopefully making your stay more pleasant.
